The Feature
The Splendor of Hell collects four fetish styled scenes that seem to pop out of Monique Covet’s head as she makes her way through her day.

This is a good scene to start the movie and quickly lets you know that this isn’t your typical porno.
Scene 2 – Angelica Bright, Monique Covet, Rita Faltoyano, Paul Kreese, and Steve Holmes

Like so much of Private’s Pirate line, The Splendor of Hell is about style as much as it is sexuality, and there’s a great balance between the two of them. The sex is completely focused on group action, and surprisingly, the anal action is much lighter than I normally expect with Private. Monique Covet does a very nice job in each of her scenes (including taking a couple nice double penetrations), but is never so much of a force in the scenes that she completely overshadows such great performers as Michelle Wild and Rita Faltoyano. As for the style, that’s much of what I enjoy so much about the Pirate lines. There’s plenty of creativity put into the locations as well as the clothes, and I love the rubber and PVC fetish styles that flow throughout the movie. Yes, there’s a touch of darkness that comes out repeatedly, but it’s done in a way that feeds the sexuality of the scenes rather than competing with it. No, The Splendor of Hell won’t be for everybody due to how artistic it gets, but for those wanting fetish styles or just something different it’s well worth checking out.
The Bottom Line:
Currently, much of Private’s earlier Pirate titles can be found online for between about $8 and $20 with a few stores offering them near the low end. At the low end this one’s a steal. The sex is hot and is well matched with some great style. The technical aspects show some very nice care and there’s also a bit of effort put into the extras. This is a very nicely done DVD.
Note to Private: I know this is one of your waaaay older titles, but it’s great to look back and see the very nice care you were putting into your DVDs even back then.
